CBD and my pet

Is CBD safe for my dog?


Yes! Dogs are especially responsive to cannabinoids as they have the highest concentration of cannabinoid receptors in their brain and bodies compared to other animals, even humans. Our CBD products are effective in bringing balance to pets suffering from a variety of ailments including separation anxiety, arthritis, inflammation, pain, mobility issues, cancer, end of life discomfort, epilepsy and more.




Is CBD safe for my cat?


Most definitely! Cats are very picky eaters and for a good reason. They are very sensitive to many things. CBD oil is considered SAFE for cats. There are lots of different types of CBD products on the market and CBD oil can vary a lot in quality. Gizzls Treats only contain top quality, full-spectrum CBD oil, so your kitty is in very safe hands.




How long do the effects of CBD last?


The effects of CBD can last anywhere from 4-8 hours. This will depend on a number of things including the size of the dose, your pet's unique digestion system, food eaten that day, severity of your pet's symptoms, and other factors. CBD lasts longer in dogs than cats as they have a faster metabolism. Cats generally keep CBD in their system for around 3-4 hours, while dogs can last up to 8 hours.




Is Gizzls just for cats and dogs or can I give it to my guinea pig, rabbit, horse or other pet?


All animals have endocannabinoid receptors so our CBD products are completely safe and can be used for any animal. Please contact us for more information and dosage guidelines.




Can I use Gizzls CBD Treats if my pet is on other medications?


Absolutely! These products are safe while taking other medications. They will not interfere with any other medications they are taking. But if you have any doubts, please chat to your vet first before giving your pet Gizzls Treats.




Can CBD replace my pet's other medications?


Gizzls recommends checking with your vet before taking your dog off any prescribed medicines. That being said, CBD can be a great supplement to existing medicines because it is a natural substance.




Will Gizzls products get my pet "high"?


Nope. Won’t happen, and let me tell you why: our biscuits and oils contain full-spectrum CBD that contains only small amounts of THC (that’s ultimately the stuff that gets you “high”) but is needed to achieve the Entourage Effect. Our supplier uses only the indica and sativa outdoor plants due to the fact that they are high in CBD and low in THC. The CBD oil contains trace amounts of THC, which means you won’t have any high pets on your hands (although they will feel much better!).




Are there any side effects of taking Gizzls products?


There are no side effects to our products unless your dog has any type allergies from what is listed on the ingredients list. Even then, we haven't used any soy, wheat or grain in our treats which can aggrevate certain allergies. The only side effect would be drowsiness. These products are all natural.




Are Gizzls organic, non-GMO, non-dairy and gluten free?


Absolutely! The don't contain any nasties.




How long does it take for the CBD to start working?


There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer to this question. There are many factors at play here. For instance, how long it takes CBD treats / oil to have an effect depends on the dosage, severity of the ailment, and how fast your pet metabolises the CBD. With that said, when given to your pet orally, CBD generally takes anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes to take effect. Keep in mind, however, that to see continued results, consistent, long-term use is necessary.





CBD Dosing

How do you dose CBD for dogs?


To determine the proper dose of CBD, first determine your dog's body weight. Start with the recommended dose, monitor your dog, and then increase as needed.




How much CBD should I give my dog for seizures?


If your dog has epilepsy, we recommend daily dosing as a preventative measure. During a seizure, you will need to increase the dose. We also recommend using a liquid CBD oil over treats because it takes effect immediately. Gizzls has a range of CBD oil tinctures, so please email us for more information.




How often should I give my pet Gizzls CBD treats?


At Gizzls, we are dedicated to supporting a routine that works best for each pet. Many dogs do great with 2+ doses per day as often as every 4 hours, and some only need it on specific occasions. The full effects may remain for up to 4-8 hours, depending on method of use and dosage. We recommend giving your pet a dose twice daily, as this keeps the CBD in their system continuously.

We use an overnight courier and our team processes all orders within 1-2 business days, so please allow 2-3 business days for delivery. We want to get your Gizzls to you as quickly as possible!




What's the shelf-life of Gizzls products?


NEW UNOPEN TREAT BAGS: Treats stored in a cool, dry place can be fresh for up to 3 months and up to 6 months if frozen. OPEN TREAT BAGS RESEALED: Treats stored in a cool, dry place can be fresh for up to 3 months and up to 6 months if frozen. TINCTURE BOTTLES: All of our CBD tincture products stored in a cool, dry place can be fresh for up to 1 year and up to 2 years refrigerated.




Do you offer a reseller option or can I buy wholesale?


Yes, we offer special pricing for resellers. All resellers are subject to our approval. Please email us and we'll send you our Wholesale Application Form to start the approval process.

What are your business hours?


Our regular business hours are Monday - Friday 9am – 5pm. We offer email support during our regular business hours. We respond within a couple hours so if you do not receive an e-mail response, please check your spam folder. All emails received over the weekend will be replied to on Monday.




How do I make changes to my shipping address?


Please ensure that the shipping address is correct when you email your order. We ship out orders on a daily basis, Monday – Friday and Saturdays too. This means that sometimes we are unable to intercept your order and correct it in time before it goes out. If you have made a mistake with the shipping address in your order, we are not responsible for this and there is a good chance that your order has already shipped out to the address which you provided. But if we can change it, we will!




Do you have a phone number?


We encourage our customers to contact us by email as we're not always available to take a call. But we understand that sometimes it's nicer to chat to a real human being, so we can always arrange a convenient time to call.
